Remembering long-time KRP tax partner Harris Kligman

Harris Kligman, former KRP LLP Tax Partner

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of a long-time KRP LLP team member.

Former Tax Partner Harris Kligman has died at the age of 76 after a long illness. His passing marks the loss of not only a respected tax practitioner, but also a trusted colleague, mentor and friend whose influence helped shape the firm for more than two decades.

Harris joined KRP with a mandate to build and grow the firm’s tax department, and over the course of an accomplished 30-plus-year career, he did exactly that. Through his leadership, technical expertise and unwavering commitment to clients, he played a central role in establishing KRP’s reputation for thoughtful, strategic and comprehensive tax advice.

Throughout his career, Harris worked with a broad range of organizations—from sole proprietorships and family businesses to major corporations—while his expertise extended across industries. What set Harris apart, however, was not simply his remarkable technical knowledge. It was his ability to connect with people. Clients valued his calm guidance through complex tax matters, while colleagues appreciated his generosity in sharing knowledge and mentoring younger professionals entering the field.

“Harris was well respected both inside and outside of our firm,” said Co-Managing Partner Armando Iannuzzi. “Harris was widely recognized within Canadian tax circles for his deep technical understanding and commitment to education.”

Indeed, Harris presented tax seminars for businesses, governments and trade organizations, and spoke at several Russell Bedford International Tax Conferences. He was elected to the RBI Board of Directors—one of two representatives for North America—in 2010.

Despite these professional accomplishments, Harris often spoke most fondly about the relationships he built throughout his career and the satisfaction that came from helping entrepreneurs and families navigate important financial decisions with confidence.

When Harris retired from KRP, he shared that he wanted to spend more time with family, continue his charitable work and enjoy life’s simple pleasures, including his passion for fine wine. Family was always at the centre of his life, and those who knew him understood how deeply proud he was of them.

Harris leaves behind his beloved wife Edu, his son Aaron and daughter Andrea, and his cherished grandchildren. The KRP family extends its deepest condolences to them during this difficult time.

“His legacy at KRP will endure not only through the tax department he helped build, but through the many professionals he mentored, the clients he advised and the friendships he formed along the way,” said Co-Managing Partner George Grignano. “Harris will be remembered with gratitude, admiration and great affection by everyone on our team who had the good fortune of working with him.”
